My mom said I could stop once I could play the hymns. What a blessing that has been in my life. During college one of my stress release activities was to gotothe piano rooms and play. I didn't have music, but there were always hymn books available, so I would sing and play and it would bringme great comfort. Last year I was called as ward organist, although I had no experience on the organ. I still don't play the organ properly, I don't play the pedals, but I am comfortable playing the hymns on the organ and I love it, I feel like the organ is my voice and I amiable to worship through music in such a grand way and love finding rich tone combinations for each song. Truly my heart does rejoice in the hymns and my heart too is saddened (like Elder Oaks) when I observe so few singing and or just routinely singing rather than truly thinking about the words and singing with joy.<br />I am working on passing down this love of hymns to my children. We sing primary songs and hymns almost daily with our devotionals, we sing the same song all week so they become very familiar with each one. When choosing hymns for sacrament meeting I try to include the songs the primary children have learned, it's fun to hear, " hey, know this song". Thanks for lettingmeshare. I hope there aren't too many typos, I'm on my iPad and can't scroll back through to make corrections.Jenni Taysomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06962389435243328846noreply@blogger.com
